Target Audience:

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of geriatric patients and patients at long-term care facilities.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the complications and the consequences of cirrhosis, for patients in the inpatient setting.
  • Explain the economic, patient and caregiver burdens associated with cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy (HE).
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly manage HE and other complications of cirrhosis.
